Annual General Meeting 2008
A successful and convivial AGM was held in France between September 5th and 7th at La Volee, which is the centre for the European Institute for Psychotherapeutic Studies - (EPS Ltd). Members present represented 11 European nations. Following the business meeting there was a colloquium on training and related issues. La Volee is a working farm based on organic principles and working toward integrating psychotherapy education within an ecological context. Thanks to our hosts Ken and Joanna.
CONGRATULATIONS to Kay Conroy and Mary Paula Walsh who were each awarded with the status of Honorary Fellows of EAIP for their significant contribution to the development of Integrative psychiotherapy in Ireland and Europe.
The EAIP Board agreed to hold a conference and AGM in Manchester, UK in 2009. More details to follow.
Annual Genral Meeting of EAIP September 26th, 2007
The AGM met at the Metanoia Institute in London and voted in as new Associate Members the Institut fur Persohnlichkeit und Psychotherapie based in Holland and Germany. A new application was received from the European Association for Psychotherapy Integration based in Romania.
It was unanimously agreed that the Registrar would draw up guidelines for the registration of Supervisors and Trainers.
Three people were elected as Fellows of EAIP in honour of their significant contribution to the development of Integrative Psychotherapy:

Report on the Conference and launch of EAIP Certificate

The theme of the conference was 'Challenges in Integrative Psychotherapy'. In keynote addresses, workshops and panels, we explored some of the many challenges facing the integrative practitioner. These included:

integrating transpersonal and developmental perspectives,
-
how much and when to self disclose,
-
integrating specific treatment modalities within a relational model,
-
integrating body processes and regressive states into an integrative approach,
-
offering culturally sensitive integrative practice,

working with specific issues such as envy and trauma.

The keynote address was given by Dr. Karen Maroda, a Relational Psychoanalyst, who agreed to come from America to give a paper on 'Sex, Desire and Power in the Therapeutic Relationship'. Professor Andrew Samuels, a well-known Jungian Analysi, also spoke on 'Integrative Psychotherapy in the Wider World: Spirituality, Politcs and Masculinity'. There was a round table discussion on 'The Therapist's Use of Self in the Therapeutic Encounter' with Joanna Ablack, Ken Evans, Michael Randolph, Patti Wallace, Chaired by Diana Shmulker.

The conference also provided the launching point for the European Certificate in Integrative Psychotherapy with first awards being presented by the EAIP Registrar ken Evans This was a highly significant development for the EAIP and the credibility of Integrative Psychotherapy across Europe.
